I have been thinking about my subject for today a lot the past few days. Anyway, a few days ago Luke had a tootsie-pop. An orange one which is the best kind besides the brown ones. The wrapper had an indian shooting a star! I was so excited. I hadn't seen one in such a long time. I remember when I was very young thinking that if you were lucky enough to find one of those you could get another tootsie-pop for free. I googled that and found that it is not true. How sad! I don't know where I got that idea but I was obviously not alone in thinking that since I found a web site talking about the myth about the indianshooting a star. This made me think of my Grandpa Humphries. He had a great deal to do with why I remember my childhood so fondly. He honored the indian shooting a star "rule". Well, first I should explain that he owned the only store for miles and sold lots of candy there. When we would find a tootsie-pop with an indian on it, he would allow us to get another one for free. I think that he kinda took it a little bit farther that the myth was supposed to go though. If my memory serves me well, then we(his grandchildren) rarely had to pay for the first tootsie-pop. I remember riding my bike to his store during the summer and him giving me a little brown paper sack and telling me to go fill it up. Besides lots of candy, he would give us soda's, ice cream cones(more specifically orange cream sickles, the best ever!!!!). Now that I am a parent I am sure that my parents did not appreciate that near as much as I did. But I have also learned that Grandparents are sort of entitled to do things like this. For some reason I just can't say no to my Dad when he gives sweets to Luke and Shelby. But looking back on how I felt about it as a child, I am grateful that my children have grandparents who love them and spoil them sometimes. Luke and Shelby will in turn have the same sort of fond memories that I have. And even though I don't like them to have sweets, I really don't want to deprive them of such "sweet" memories.

Sneaky little boy
A couple nights ago as I was getting ready for bed I noticed that my scriptures were not where I keep them. I looked all over for them and could not find them. So I went to bed anyway. The next evening when I was putting Luke in his bed I noticed a lump under his covers at the foot of his bed. I'm sure you already guessed it, it was my scriptures. I don't know why it didn't occur to me to look there because he has been known to stash things there in the past. There have been several times when either Pam or I can't find something and it turns up at the foot of Luke's bed, under the covers. I have never caught him in the act so I don't know when he does this. After I put the kids to bed I go downstairs for a couple of hours before I go up to my room, so my guess is he does it when I think he is asleep. I just thought I would share this little story. I think it is pretty funny. Luke is quite the character.
And some of you may be thinking.... how did she not notice that lump the next morning, I probably would have if I made his bed every morning. But, I don't, so it blended in with all of the other lumps in the covers. Oh well, haha

MY DAD
Luke and Shelby with Grandpa
This coming Monday, my Dad is going to become the new Sheriff of Fremont county. He has worked very hard to get to this point and no one deserves it more than him. I am so very proud of him. I am lucky to have him as a Father. And Fremont County is lucky to have him as a Sheriff. I know he will do a wonderful job. He is very well qualified for the job. There is no man that I admire more, and I just wanted to say how much I love him, and how proud I am of him.
This past summer a bunch of family members went with Dad to the Street Fest in St. Anthony to help campaign. We had a lot of success and tons of fun. It was like a little family reunion as well. Below are some pictures from that night. I don not have pictures of everyone that was there, I apologize. But, I hope you enjoy them.

Finally!!!
Most of you probably know that we are going to be stationed somewhere when Kevin is done with Tech School, and that we have been waiting forever to find out where. Well, Kevin finally received his assignment today. Some time in April, we will be moving to McChord Air Force Base. It is in Lakewood, Washington, about 45 minutes south of Seattle. Kevin's sister and brother-in-law and their two kids live in Seattle. We are so excited about that. And my sister and her family live in Moscow, Idaho which is about a 5 or 6 hour drive from McChord. I am so happy about where we are being based.

Happy Birthday Lucas!!!
Lucas Benjamin Weaver was born 3 years ago today. And though it is late right now, I am not too late in getting this posted in time for his birthday. You see, he was born at 11:18 pm and so he is not yet 3 years old.
Lucas is such an amazing boy. He is so cute, funny, smart, and has such a sweet spirit about him. Most of the time he is this wild, crazy and energetic little boy(or as nursery leaders have nic-named him,"Tazmanian Devil"), but he also has a very sweet and sensitive side to him. He is always aware of the emotions of others around him. He can always sense when someone is feeling sad. There have been several times when I have been having a hard dad, and am silently crying by my self and Luke is in another room playing. He just suddenly stops what he is doing, comes and finds me, looks very concerned at me and asks me if I am ok. He then reaches for me and says SQUEEEEZE! We hug and then he puts a hand on each side of my face, kisses me and tells me he loves me so much. Of course then I really cry, and he just hugs me.
He is such a good big brother to Shelby. Whenever she is crying or upset at all, he makes sure I am aware and that I fix it right away. If Shelby gets hurt, he immediately drops to the floor and kisses her feet. Kinda weird, I know, but it is really cute. I am pretty sure it is because he refuses to kiss her on the lips. He can't stand her slobbery baby kisses. Why he chooses to kiss her feet instead though I don't know. Maybe it is because her feet are the part farthest from her mouth and feels that is the safest place to kiss her.
He got to spend a lot of time with his Dad over the past 2 weeks and he loved it. I was a little worried about how he would react to Kevin after him being gone for so long, but he acted a if he had never left. As soon as he saw Kevin walking towards the car at the airport, he screamed "Mom, there's Dad!!!!" They were pretty much inseparable from then on. We had a joint Birthday Party for Lucas and Kevin while Kev was here. There b-days are on the 5th and 6th of January. If Luke had been born about 45 minutes later, they would have the same birthday. But I think it is good that they each have their own day. Well, I guess Lucas does share with Joel, but that is cool.
Ok, so it turned out to be way more than just a few words about my favorite boy, I hope you don't mind. I am just so very grateful to have him in my life. Even the wild side of him. He really is a lot of fun. And the sweet side of him has helped me through a lot. I love you, Lucas Benjamin Weaver

The face is dirty, it often is, but even dirty, it is still a handsome face.
Luke cuddling on the floor with his little sister Shelby, with the blankets that their Great Grandma Humphries made for them.
I miss him still having that baby look. This was before Shelby.
This was his first Fourth of July, and his first time eating peaches. He was not a fan.
